Step 1

You tell us about your project.

A pre-FID project in early-stage engineering. You bring the constraints you know: the sites in play, the interconnection position, whether a turbine slot has to be reserved now. We prepare one basis of design and three candidate sites, and assume the rest from first principles and public data.

Step 2

Our software evaluates 12 scenarios.

Our models have access to 350+ GW of power-generation engineering. We work in Aspen HYSYS, Thermoflow GT PRO and the leading software any engineer would use, so your team can check every number. Software reasons about geometry, loads and mechanical systems so the structure holds and the systems fit, and we converge as many configurations as the options allow, across every site and every season.

Step 3

Vendor quotes update cost and schedule.

Vendor quotes and lead times in power generation move month to month. We keep them current through our vendor relationships and channel partners. If you hold vendor quotes of your own, we use them under NDA to tighten your number further.

Step 4

PE-licensed engineers deliver your next gate.

The options, estimates and deliverables that get you to the next gate: order the long-leads, file the permits, go to your lender. A full pack for the gate, or individual deliverables if a plot plan or a single-line is what you need. Every sheet reviewed and stamped by our standby bench of PE-licensed engineers.

Frequently asked questions

What does Candid do?

We are an owner's engineering firm for gas-fired power. Between "we have a site" and "we are ready to commit capital," a project needs engineering that answers two questions: does it work, and what will it cost? We produce that: plot plan, heat and material balance, single-line diagram, cost estimate and schedule, stamped by licensed engineers, and we keep it current through to your final investment decision.

How can months of engineering take weeks?

Most of the time in front-end engineering isn't spent on engineering judgment. It goes to handoffs between disciplines, redrawing when one input changes, and waiting for prices. Our software does the drafting, calculation and cross-checking, so a change to the turbine or the site flows through every deliverable at once. Our engineers spend their time on the decisions that need judgment, and they review and sign everything. You work with engineers, not a software tool, and nothing about your process has to change.

How accurate are your estimates, and how can we check?

Most front-end estimates rest on an estimator's experience and a cost database that's a year old. Ours rest on data: we rebuilt completed plants from public records and landed within ±15% of what they actually cost, and we price equipment from current vendor quotes. You don't have to take that on faith. Give us a plant you've already built, without the numbers, and we'll run it blind so you can compare.

Where do your prices come from, and how do you keep them current?

Equipment prices move every month, so an estimate built on last year's database is already wrong. We track the major equipment with rolling vendor quotes and market movement, and use live quotes at the Class 3 stage. If you already hold quotes for long-lead equipment, we build them in. When prices move after delivery, we update your package at no charge.

Why trust a new firm over a Tier 1 engineering firm?

What matters is whether your EPC, your lender's independent engineer and the permitting agency accept the work. So we deliver in the formats they already use, on your templates, with the same senior, licensed bench a Tier 1 firm would assign, and every sheet stamped. We'll also show you sample deliverables and run a blind backtest on one of your past plants before you commit anything.

Who signs the work, and what do you guarantee?

Licensed professional engineers on our own bench review and stamp every deliverable, in the state where your project is, and carry the professional responsibility for it. The package is warranted after delivery: rework and updates when your project changes are covered. And if we deliver a package late, you don't pay for it.

What do you need from us to start?

A site and what you want to build there: location, target output and turbine, plus whatever you have on geotechnical data, interconnection, gas supply and water. Send what exists; nothing has to be complete. We fill the gaps from satellite imagery, public records and nearby plants, mark what is assumed, and update the design as real data comes in.

Where does your scope start and stop?

From concept through final investment decision: site and configuration studies, interconnection and permitting support, pre-FEED, FEED and long-lead equipment. A pre-FEED package takes about four weeks and FEED about twelve, and changes usually come back the next morning. We don't build. When you move to construction, we hand everything to your EPC in their file formats so nothing gets redone.

Your project stays yours.

Owners share sites, interconnection positions and cost data with us long before any of it is public. We guard it that way, and an independent auditor has reviewed our controls.
